Please carefully review the information on this page. Safety of our members and boats is paramount, we take compliance with all regulations very seriously. The club adheres to all AS rules and has some additional requirements. Below are materials all skippers need to be aware of and comply with.
All boats racing with the BPYC need to be Cat 7 audited (Cat 5 for scheduled offshore races).
In case of inclement weather (e.g. Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) issued strong wind warning for Sydney Enclosed Waters) or other safety relevant events (e.g. COVID related government guidance, safety relevant unusual activity on the harbour) races will be cancelled or postponed. Decisions may come through close to the start of the race and skippers and crew should keep an eye out for relevant communications.
BPYC Safety and Compliance Requirements - read this first
AS Category 7 Equipment Audit Form - all BPYC yachts need to complete a Cat 7 audit and return this form to the Club Secretary before racing
AS Category 5 Equipment Audit Form - Cat 5 certification is required for all BPYC yachts in an offshore race (i.e. leaving Sydney harbour, e.g. Don Deller Race)
BPYC Safety Addendum Form - this additional safety equipment is required by the BPYC and will be checked during Cat 7 & 5 audits
AS Racing Rules of Sailing - these standard AS RRS in its latest version (2021-24) apply to the BPYC

PFD Self Inspection Form - useful document to ensure your Personal Floatation Devices are fit for purpose
Protest Form - we always aim to resolve any disagreements amicably first but if there is a case for a formal protest during a race please use this AS form and review the relevant section in the sailing instructions for the appropriate process.
